Arriving at San Diego Comic Con

Like most holidays and special occasions, Comic Con comes with a tidal wave of emotions, especially approaching the Gas Lamp district and seeing it all dressed in geek fashion.

In order to not let your head explode from a year's worth of excitement, here are some ways to diffuse the feels when arriving at Comic Con:

  • Food for Thought - Settling over a meal will give you a chance to get your head straight as your stomach gets comforted. You'll at least be able to figure out the next few hours or maybe a whole day's worth of activity. Downtown San Diego is layered with some of the best eateries in southern California. From seafood to authentic Mexican food to gastro-pubs, you almost can't go wrong. We recommend Tin Fish, which is fresh affordable seafood and walking distance from the Convention Center.
  • Check In/Stretch Out - It may be obvious to check in to your hotel or BnB as soon as you get in to SDCC, but there are so many other things going on in the city, especially with the power of Preview Night and exclusives. But checking ASAP can be critical because it gives you a chance familiarize your place as a central point right away, knowing how far everything is from your hotel and how long it will take to get there. Also, it will give you a chance to un-wrinkle any cosplays and stretch your legs.
  • Convention Center Stroll - Depending on when you arrive, take a stroll or drive by the Convention Center prior to the madness happening. So if you arrive Wednesday, go during preview night. If any other day, try to go before the convention hours officially begin. This will give you a better assurance of how you can get around.

There are plenty of other traditions that people have when they get to SDCC. It may be a dance party in their car, or a type of workout or maybe a traditional pic at a certain location. Whatever it is that will help you get your mind focused and ready for the fun that will unfold during the biggest weekend for the geek kingdom, do it and share it!

What are your traditions when you get to Comic Con? Anything new that you will try this year?
