Ben Affleck Steps Down As Director

The highly anticipated Batman film no longer has a director. One of the biggest news to come out of the DCEU after the wake of Batman v Superman was Ben Affleck accepting the role as Director in the first solo Bat-film since Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Affleck makes a statement to E! News:

"There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require"

He went on to say he will stay on as the caped crusader and is still committed to the project. As the DCEU continues to build up steam, it's possible that scope and scale is just too much for Affleck's broad shoulders. After directing The Town, we would have loved to see Affleck's vision of life in Gotham. However, considering how many moving parts and the intricacy of the newly formed universe, perhaps a close collaboration with a talented director will be good enough. What do you think? Who would you like to see take the reigns of the Batman??
