Day 4 highlights at SDCC
Well, this years SDCC has been the best yet for us at Hero Within. We have broken records, met great new people and were reunited with old friends. For us it has been insanely busy – of course, we aren’t complaining! We actually ran out of sizes for some of our best sellers, and pre-orders for our Marvel collection came in fast!
Marvel
On the final day of SDCC Marvel announced some new X-Men news… Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Black. Not too much detail was revealed about Uncanny X-Men, but the popular comic series is set to return in November 2018.
X-Men Black however is a new series introduced which focuses around the darker side of mutant-kind. Magneto, Juggernaught, Mojo, Emma Frost and Mystique will each feature their own stories in this new five-part special. Each story is written and drawn by a different artist/writer, so I’m sure we can expect some fantastic artwork and unique storytelling. Here is the teaser we have for the first issue – Magneto #1.
SDCC Fostering Fashion Auction
In the third edition of our charity auction, we roped in designer Leetal Platt to help us create this year’s WB Swag Bag Jacket! Leetal is a New York fashion designer and a former Her Universe fashion show winner.
The silent auction took place this week at SDCC and ended yesterday at noon. All proceeds for this auction go towards our cause to provide comic books for foster children in Orange County. We showcased the jacket on our booth from Preview Night and offered the auction exclusively to SDCC attendees. Not only is the jacket unique, different and full of pockets… Our CEO Tony Kim took it to the Warner Brothers party and got it signed by some great people! Including, Colton Haynes, Brandon Routh, Candice Patton, Grant Gustin and Alex Sinclair!
At noon, the winner was announced and contacted! A huge congratulations and thank you to the winner – Jordon Huppert, who came to our booth to claim his prize!
Cosplay
Although Sunday was the last day of SDCC, there were plenty of people and cosplayers out and about, but these were our favourites!
