DC Comics celebrates Action Comics #1000 with the return of the super trunks! For over 75 years, our favorite Kryptonian has been proudly wearing his alien briefs on the outside. A few years ago (and along with the new films), Kal-El has taken the conservative approach and his unmentionables went either off or under his iconic tights. Classic fans were bummed while a majority of modern fans felt it was time to retire the 'strong man' look from the 30's. However, to commemorate this landmark issue, legendary artist Jim Lee illustrated the cover image for Action Comics #1000 (below). Jim Lee commented:
“Action Comics #1000 represents a watershed moment in the history of not just comic books, but entertainment, literature, and pop culture,” Lee said in a statement. “There’s no better way to celebrate Superman’s enduring popularity than to give him a look that combines some new accents with the most iconic feature of his classic design.”
The #1000 issue will feature multiple comic book creators and a story from Superman movie director Richard Donner and DC superstar Geoff Johns. This sounds like an issue you won't want to miss! Action Comics #1000 hits stores on April 18.
