Top Ten Superhero Costumes

The streets of the CW are safe now that the DC TV Fall season is underway. Where ever you are in the multiverse, almost every night of the week are action packed because Flash, Supergirl, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. However, as much as each of these shows stand on their own, not all capes are made equally. It's time for Hero Within to take them through the fashion gauntlet and rank our top ten fashionable heroes (We only judged the major and reoccurring characters, not the cameos). Heroes, take the runway...

10. Jesse Quick (Flash)
Jesse is a brand new entry at the time of this post as her costume has just been revealed online! So we can't fully judge it since we haven't seen it in motion yet. In general we love what we see so far- the Flash aesthetic, modest,  and practical. We are not big fans of the mask but maybe it will grow on us. Welcome to the universe Jesse!

9. Martian Manhunter/J'onn J'onzz (Supergirl)
We never thought in a million years that Martian Manhunter would make it onscreen. We're glad that he has become a trusted ally to the Girl of Steel. His costume design is simple, clean and imposing. Plus it is a accurate homage to his comics origins. It's just too bad that the show's TV budget can't render him to his fullest potential. Still he's a welcome addition to the CW family.

 8. Black Canary/Sara Lance (Arrow)
From the moment Sara Lance entered the Arrowverse, it was clear not to mess with her. This Canary, version one, took the traditional short coat, corset and fishnet stockings and updated it with a modern look. Adding a mask completed this heroic ensemble and still makes her arguably the best Canary to date.

7. Superman (Supergirl)

Kal-El just made his debut on Supergirl this season and it has been, well super! Unlike his big screen counter-part, the CW version is lighter, brighter and a little more easy going in this universe. His costume is inspired by his cousins suit while also bringing in elements from the comics. Tyler Hoechlin doesn't quite fill it out enough but we think he makes it work. Not too sure about how the cape attaches onto his shoulders but it's growing on us. Overall, a decent execution.

6. Green Arrow (Arrow)
Arrow's suit has gone through a few upgrades over the years. As the forefather of the DC/TV universe, he had the most pressure to succeed. Once Arrow got past the unfortunate face mascara phase and embraced being green, his costume really became A-level.

5. Firestorm (Legends of Tomorrow)
Like Martian Manhunter, Firestorm was another character that we thought would never see the light of day. The yellow jumpsuit and the flaming hairdo just didn't seem possible on a TV budget. Considering the limitations, Firestorm looks pretty awesome taking the best from his comic book incarnations. Red, yellow and hot all over, he really looks the part. Our only complaint is that we don't see him enough on Legends of Tomorrow or get a chance to really explore his powers.

4. Zoom (Flash)
What can we say about the most terrifying villain in all multiverse. Zoom not only is the fastest villain  alive but looks totally intimidating in his jet black speedster getup. Plus, what is going on with his mouth?! Overall, it's simple, elegant and screams evil- props to Zoom's fashion designer. Congrats Zoom for being the only villain to make it on our list!

3. White Canary/Sara Lance (Legends of Tomorrow)
Sara resurrects shedding her Black Canary persona becoming the White Canary. This costume really gets high points with us since  since we've never seen a costume in all white. Imagine the upkeep! With that said, it's functional, protective and makes her look wicked tough. Our only complain is that with all the time traveling, she doesn't wear it enough!

2. Supergirl/Kara Zor-El
As the highest anticipated superhero show in 2015, Supergirl knocked it out of the park with her arrival to Earth. Her costume was spot on which is rare right out of the gates. Melissa Benoist's version takes both inspiration from Man of Steel and from the comics making it classic yet modern. It's empowering, hopeful and yet feminine. While a miniskirt may not be the most practical way to fight crime, she doesn't seem to sweat it.

1. Flash/Barry Allen
The fastest man alive tops our list as the most fashionably costume out of the CW universe. It's striking, sleek and perfectly fits the modern aesthetic. Best of all, they got the mask right. Out of all the characters in the universe, the Flash costume makes the most sense since he spends most of his time at mach 1+ speeds. The Scarlet Speedster's slim cut design makes him look like a millennial hero for the ages. Thanks Barry for being a fashion police we all love.

Well, there you have it. Our top ten list of the most fashionable CW superheroes. Let us know what you think and who would be your number one pick.
