What's In Your Cosplay Survival Kit?

Fashion and cosplay go hand-in-hand. The biggest thing that sets comic conventions apart from any other conventions are the cosplayers. Coming in all shapes and sizes, they span every genre from the beginning of time to the farthest point in the future. For Comic-Con, cosplaying is a way for the fans to be intricately involved in the experience of the show. Without these visionary and creative artists, I am convinced SDCC (and other cons) would not be as popular as it is today. I commend the countless hours these craftspeople put into their art. So whether you are a first time or long time cosplay veteran, don’t leave home with out a Cosplay Survival Kit:

  • Needle & colored thread
  • Safety pins
  • Zip-ties
  • Sharpie
  • Paint pens
  • Super glue
  • Small hot glue gun and sticks
  • Fabric glue
  • Bandages or moleskin tape
  • Small needle-nose pliers
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided foam tape
  • Fabric tape
  • Adhesive velcro
  • Instahem Tape (peel and stick)
  • Clear Packing Tape
  • Wrinkle release spray (if you don’t have an iron)
  • Hand steamer
  • Stain remover
  • Small pack for travel
  • Larger pack to keep in hotel

There is no official ‘cosplay repair’ station at Comic-Con so make sure you are prepared. If you are an experienced cosplayer and have some important items that I missed in the list above, share it with us below. If you have questions about your kit, then please leave a comment too. Thanks and see you next weeks!
