Congratulations to Wonder Woman for it's stellar opening weekend. Hauling in $100.5* million domestically, Patty Jenkins became the highest grossing opening weekend by a female director. Previously held by Sam Taylor-Johnson of 50 Shades of Grey. Internationally, Wonder Woman earned an additional $122 million bringing it's total to $223 million globally! Compared with other super hero movies, Wonder Woman is expecting a larger domestic opening than Iron Man ($98.6 million), Doctor Strange ($85 million) and Thor ($65.7 million); but less than Deadpool ($132 million) and Man of Steel ($116.6 million). Perhaps what is even more impressive is the critical response with 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Major kudos to Warner Bros and DC Comics for creating one of the best superhero films in decades. And as expected, Patty Jenkins and Wonder Woman 2 is officially green lit!
*Update, final numbers are around $103m
