Comic Book Drive for Foster Kids

Comic books can play an important part in culture. They are not only full of heroism, fun and adventure but also help tell stories of overcoming great odds. In life, there is no greater challenge than losing your family. In fact, some of our greatest heroes in pop culture have experienced the loss of family like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker and more. For kids who have endured loss, comics can be therapeutic as well as inspirational. For Hero Within, one of our 'for cause' mission is to provide age appropriate comics for kids in the foster care system in Orange County, CA. At any given time there are up to 300,000 kids in foster care in the United States. Some children are separated from their parents for a short time while others, sadly might not ever rejoin their family. Today, we are kicking off our 2nd annual comic book drive called "Heroes for Heroes" and we ask you to donate comic books from your own personal collection or to pick up some at your local shop. Whether you send in one, dozens or more, we will make sure they will go to these brave little heroes in the foster care system. We need comics that are:

  • age appropriate for 10-18 years old readers
  • are not sexual or overtly violent in nature
  • contain good role models
  • have inspirational stories of redemption

If you are interested in donating, please e-mail info@herowithinstore.com for instructions. At the very least you can help us spread the word by using the hashtag #HeroesForHeroes17. You can read more about our mission here and why it's important to us. Thanks for passing on a little joy this holiday season and we are grateful for your support.
