Heart Gallery Hero: Anthony
One of the reasons that Hero Within exists is to tell the heroic stories found within our community. Foster children is a special group we are intentionally advocating for and we hope our followers will do the same. There are over 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. Almost 100,000 need adoptive homes right now. About 25,000 age out of foster care every year, at age 18 without anyone, to live on their own, unprepared and unsupported. They are the true heroes in our world- but are in need of healthy and loving families. It's the holidays and no child should go without a home and family. Today's Heart Gallery Hero is Anthony from Tampa Bay:
Anthony is the kind of kid that shows you what unconditional joy really looks like. In spite of the odds he faces, he chooses every day to smile relentlessly, and to spread that hope and happiness to anyone lucky enough to be within earshot of his giggle. Anthony loves to spend time outside, and he can watch baseball for hours on end! He enjoys cartoons and calm jazz music, and likes big, fluffy dogs that nap at his feet. There’s no doubt that Anthony has a difficult road ahead of him, but there is also no doubt that Anthony possesses the tenacity and determination of spirit to achieve even his wildest dreams. He has that part covered. What he needs is an affectionate, supportive family that can care for his medical needs and encourage his self-determination.

The Heart Gallery of America is a collaborative project of over 80 Heart Galleries across the United States designed to increase the number of adoptive families for children needing homes in our community.
