All Good Things…
Hello Family, Tony Kim here, owner of Hero Within. I need to update you about an important change for Hero Within. It’s with great sadness that we are announcing the end of our Star Trek license. For over 6 years we have journeyed together and experience the ‘Undiscovered Country’ of modern Trek- but all good things must come to an end. We wanted nothing more but to grow old together but as a result of the Skydance/Paramount merger, the license cost became too great. Since July, we have been negotiating back and forth but we just couldn’t meet Paramount’s new contract goals. Since 2019, we have dropped our other licenses to focus on Star Trek, so to end this relationship is quite devastating to us. We always dreamed Star Trek could be a global juggernaut and hoped we could make that a reality together. Sadly, you will have to continue on without us.
What does this means now?
For the next month, we will be focusing on two objectives; First, we are working to deliver all of our past productions (Check the update at the very bottom). Second, we are starting a Last Call Preorder today for Black Friday. This will be your final chance to own an official Star Trek X Hero Within Jacket. Our jackets will be "collector’s items" starting January 1st. After holding off all year, we also had to raise our prices by 10% to combat the new tariffs and inflation. We hope you understand. Hopefully, we can return to Star Trek someday but for now, this is your last chance.
What’s next?
By purchasing from this Last Call Preorder, you will help set us up for what is next. For the first couple of months of 2026, we will be selling off what is left of our Star Trek collection, then we will move on to the future. For the past 9 years, we’ve been in licensed partnerships and honestly, I’m a little exhausted from it. Hero Within will probably take 2026 to develop some small passion projects until we dive back into the world of licensing. Because of you, we built this company together and now, we will take this leap into the great unknown together. It will be tough and scary but my hope is that it will push us into a better and sustainable future.
Finest crew in the fleet
Hero Within could not have made it this far without you. From the pandemic, the writer strike, inflation, tariffs and now licensing challenges, together we have seen it all. Like every relationship, we know we haven’t been perfect. We’ve been late, made production mistakes and not been great with communication. Thank you for sticking with us and allowing Hero Within to grow, evolve and get better. I hope you’ll stay with us for this next chapter. I’m not sure what it will be but I promise a future that will be fun, interesting and exciting. Help us out by shopping our Star Trek Collection this week. Production Update:
- We are sending out the last of the SDCC/STLV orders. The last part is the arrival of the Tunic Uniform Tops
- Orlando production is complete and waiting for the arrive any day now
- TWOK Jacket production is complete and waiting for it to make it’s way through customs
- NYCC/Oct production is underway
- Chicago production will start this week
